Man Charged With Shooting 18-Year-Old Ballwin Friend in the Head

Law enforcement said the victim was shot at point-blank range, allegedly by request.

Ballwin resident Matthew Pellegrini, 18, died late Thursday morning following an incident where a friend allegedly shot him in the head from point-blank range.

The injury was sustained at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday near the home of the alleged shooter, Kevin Beindorff, 21, who lives in the 6000 block of Eitman Avenue in St. Louis.

CBS St. Louis reports that Pellegrini and Beindorff were sitting in a car at the time when Beindorff showed Pellegrini a revolver. Pellegrini allegedly asked Beindorff to shoot him. Beindorff then raised the revolver to Pellegrini's forehead and shot him, then drove him to a local hospital, the report said.

A representative for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said Pellegrini died at 11:05 a.m. Thursday.

Beindorff has been charged with 2nd degree murder and armed criminal action. A judge set Beindorff's cash-only bond at $300,000.

According to law enforcement, as of early Thursday, Beindorff remained in police custody at the St. Louis City Justice Center.
