Ballwin Man Injured in I-270 Crash

Traffic was stop-and-go from Page Avenue to the Interstate 70 and I-270 intersection from about noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released the identity of a High Ridge, Mo., woman who died in Wednesday's crash.

The patrol says Mary Barnett, 28, of High Ridge, was driving a 2005 Ford Focus when she tried to change lanes heading northbound on Interstate 270. Her vehicle struck one car and was struck by another. A fourth vehicle was also involved in the accident.

All four drivers were transported to De Paul Hospital where Bennett was pronounced dead. The other three drivers, including Michael Black, of Ballwin, were treated for minor injuries.

The accident occurred just after noon Wednesday as the four cars involved were travelling north on I-270. According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Bennett's 2005 Ford Focus made a lane change and struck a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer that was slowing in traffic and then was struck by the fourth vehicle.

A four-car accident on Interstate 270 has claimed one life, according to KSDK, and wreaked havoc for lunch hour motorists in Maryland Heights Wednesday.

Traffic was stop-and-go from Page Avenue to the Interstate 70 and I-270 intersection from about noon to 2 p.m. The accident was cleared by 2 p.m. with Missouri Department of Transportation officials clearing the road.

Details on the accident and the name of the deceased have not yet been released.
