The Ballwin Police Department provided the following list of incidents reported in the area for Aug. 30-Sept. 5:

Tuesday, September 4

A playground bench at was found to have been lightly damaged by fire between 5 p.m. Aug. 31 and 9 a.m. Sept. 4. The police report indicated it was not known if the damage was intentional. The bench replacement is estimated at $600.

This is a shame. Because Ballwin's playground was previously vandalized by fire (the climbing wall) and it has not yet been replaced. Sad that someone thinks that the playground equipment is 'free' or that nobody suffers. The reality is that the kids do. They lose the use of the item and the PTO has to spend money replacing the item or the school does and insurance ain't free either. All of which means less is available for equipment, supplies, teachers, and the classrooms somewhere.

Agreed Mike K. It was my daughters girl scout troop that saw and reported the last fire. I guess the PSO needs to buy security cameras next.
