Ballwin Truck Driver Gets Bumped by Cruiser Driver

The driver of the compact Cruiser auto was taken to the hospital.

Christopher Jaycox, a 51-year-old Ballwin resident, was driving a 2009 International Conventional Tractor truck southbound on Highway 61 at Interstate 70 Monday afternoon in St. Charles County when he slowed down for an accident ahead of him, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

According to authorities, a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven by 23-year-old Benjamin Artigas, was traveling too close to the truck, and struck it in the rear. Artigas is from Silex, MO.Β 

The accident occurred at 12:25 p.m.

Artigas was not wearing a seat belt, and was taken to St. Joseph Health Center West in Lake Saint Louis by a St. Charles County Ambulance crew. His Cruiser was towed from the incident.

Jaycox was wearing a seat belt, and was able to drive his truck from the accident scene.
