Fire at Bones French Quarter Knocks Out the Kitchen for a Day

Metro West Fire spokesman said the restaurant's fire suppression system worked correctly.

A morning fire in the kitchen at on Manchester Road knocked out regular kitchen service Tuesday, but workers there expect to have the regular menu back on Wednesday.

A firefighting crew from Metro West Fire Protection District responded to the blaze early this morning, according to district spokesman Michael Thiemann. He said the kitchen staff was cleaning the grease trap when a fire broke out.

"It was contained to the kitchen hood and the fire suppression system worked the way it should," Thiemann said. Firefighters were done with their work at the scene in about 30 minutes.

There were no injuries.

By 11 a.m., the restaurant was open and hosting customers, but without the regular kitchen menu, according to a waitress. She said the restaurant would be grilling food outdoors today and expected to have the regular menu ready to go on Wednesday.
