Former Ballwin Priest Sentenced For Child Porn

William Vatterot could have faced up to 10 years in prison but will serve a lesser amount after pleading guilty Friday.

A former Ballwin priest will spend the next three years in prison after pleading guilty to a count of child pornography possession Friday, FOX2 news and other media outlets reported.

Father William Vatterot's behavior had been under investigation by authorities with St. Louis Archdiocese and he was on leave from St. Cecilia Parish in St. Louis since 2011. He previously served at Holy Infant in Ballwin.

In April he was indicted by a federal grand jury for possessing the material between June 2010 and June 2011.

FOX2 reported that Vatterot issued a guilty plea Friday and would serve 37 months in prison. Under sentencing guidelines he could have faced ten years behind bars.
