Monarch Offering Limited Number of Half-Price Smoke Alarms

Residents can contact the Monarch Fire Protection District to schedule free installation as well, but the 600 alarms are being offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Residents who act quickly within service area of the Monarch Fire Protection District can take advantage of a limited supply of half-off smoke alarms Monarch is providing.

The deal is part of an agreement between the district and the Home Depot store in Chesterfield Valley to supply 600 of the hard-wired alarms to residents living within the district for $10.90 each.

The smoke alarms are being offered on a first-come, first-serve basis due to the limited and the district has said it will provide installation free of charge, although it needs to be pre-scheduled.

Payment for the smoke alarms must be received prior to installation. Residents may contact the District through their website at www.monarchfpd.org to schedule an installation.

The smoke alarms are 120-volt Kidde Model i2060 and come with a 10-year warranty and an easy to change front-loading battery backup.

In an email announcing the service, Monarch firefighter Shawn Karl said the district has always offered battery-operated smoke alarms to residents without working smoke alarms, and the new service is just another step aimed at improving residents' safety.
