Parkway Central Senior Arrested After Girl's Parents Claim Electronic Harassament

Police say an 18-year-old boy faces misdemeanor charges and possibly expulsion from Parkway Central High School.

An 18-year-old Parkway Central boy was arrested Saturday, Chesterfield police said, after a 17-year-old girl's parents complained to police their daughter was being badgered by cell phone text messages.

Police said while the high school senior had not been charged, the arrest centered on harassment—a misdemeanor. He was released on a summons, police said.

Typically, a municipal court date would be set over the matter after a release on a summons.

Parents of the 17-year-old girl also alerted school officials about the texting, police said.

Spokeswoman Cathy Kelly for Parkway School District told Patch:

"We don't tolerate harassment of any kind, take every incident very seriously and will do whatever it takes to keep students safe. We're confident our handling of this situation has been both fair and appropriate."

Privacy laws can prevent school officials from making specifics public, without parental permission.

While neither police nor the school district would confirm whether the 18-year-old boy was expelled from school. KMOV.com said Tuesday he faced a hearing over possible expulsion.
