Police: Ballwin Man Stole $12,720 in Material From Sunset Hills Construction Sites

Ballwin man became a suspect after officers discovered his sister sold a large amount of scrap metal, according to Sunset Hills Police.

A Ballwin man was indicted by a St. Louis County grand jury Jan. 30 on charges that he stole items valued at $12,720 from a construction site on Grandview Lake Drive in Sunset Hills.

Eric Steck faces four counts of felony stealing in St. Louis County Circuit Court.

Sunset Hills Police said Steck broke into trailers on construction sites where homes are being built four times between Sept. 17 and Sept. 27. Police said he stole aluminum window bucks, aluminum fractions and other construction material.

Steck was developed as a suspect after his sister, Stephanie Craig, sold a large amount of scrap metal, according to a report. Craig has not been charged.

Steck posted 10 percent of a $5,000 bond and was released from jail Jan. 14.
