Police: Friends' Dispute Over Directions Leads to Assault, Car Theft

The Ellisville Police Department said a woman from St. Louis was charged with assaulting her friend and then stealing her Jeep Grand Cherokee.

A woman from St. Louis was charged with 3rd degree assault and stealing a motor vehicle following an argument with a friend over directions, Ellisville police reported.

Police said the incident happened at 6:55 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 29 when the two women pulled the owner's Jeep Grand Cherokee into the parking lot of the CVS at 15846 Manchester Road. A fight ensued, police said, and the suspect, a 40 year-old St. Louis resident who was driving her friend's Jeep, allegedly assaulted the vehicle owner.

The suspect then drove off, police said, and was arrested by St. Louis Police at 11:49 a.m. She was later transported to the , where she was booked around 3 p.m. and released about two hours later pending warrant application.

Police said the victim was not seriously hurt.
