Victim of Ballwin House Fire Dies

An obituary published this week indicates that Ballwin resident Anna Conger died on Tuesday after being hospitalized last weekend.

The victim of a house fire that occurred in Ballwin last weekend has died.

An obituary published by this week said Anna Conger, 84, died on Tuesday. Conger was in a house fire that happened around 9:15 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Coral Terrace, KMOV reported.

A representative of the said the fire started because of an electrical shortage of a VCR in one of the house's bedrooms.

Officer Mike Hitchcock of the Ballwin Police Department said the exterior of Conger's split-level home had clear signs of the fire upon arrival.

β€œWhen we pulled onto the street, I could immediately smell and see the smoke hanging in the air,” said Hitchcock, who along with Ballwin Police Officer Nathan Jaeger, helped carry Anna Conger through the window of the burning home.

Hitchcock, Jaeger, and Fred Conger were treated for smoke inhalation at Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur, a Ballwin police representative said. Both officers were released within hours of being treated. Anna Conger was treated for smoke inhalation as well as burns, Mike Thiemann of the said.

Schrader Funeral Homes wrote that Anna is survived by her husband, sons Jim Conger and Tim Conger, grandchildren Elizabeth Campbell and Marissa Rimer and great-grandchildren Colby Ward, Savannah Rimer and Haden Rimer and Addison Fogle.

A funeral service for Anna Conger will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at .
