Woman Charged With Embezzling Nearly $100,000 in Coins

A resident of Ballwin was charged with stealing thousands of dollars from her employer over a 4 year period.

A woman from Ballwin bonded out of jail Monday after being charged with stealing more than $98,000 in change from her employer, Home Depot in Ellisville.

Court documents say the woman, Janet Sanguinett, 51, placed orders for coins for her employer between 2006 and 2009 during her duties as a vault associate. Rather than stock and log the coins' arrival, however, Sanguinett "pocketted" the currency.

After a review of finance records prompted questioning, Sanguinett eventually confessed to her supervisors. Records say a subsequent audit by Home Depot revealed that she stole a total of $59,650 in 2009 alone.
