Ballwin Aldermen To Vote On Shooting Ranges

City officials would not be voting on a specific proposal to open a range, although one area gunshop has a proposal in the works.

The Ballwin Board of Aldermen will meet Monday night to consider if shooting ranges should be allowed as a special exemption use in certain zoned areas of the city.

The city's Planning and Zoning Commission signed off on a text amendment endorsing the measure, after a request filed by the owner of American Arms  looking to locate a shooting range on a portion of the former Rothman Furniture site next to Wendy's and the U-Gas convenience store now under construction.

The specific project itself has not been approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission. The Board of Aldermen would only be considering the broader question of allowing them in the C-1 zoning district.

Here is more information about the agenda for Monday's meeting, which will be held at The Pointe At Ballwin Commons, #1 Ballwin Commons Circle while renovations are being done at the Police and Courts building.
