Ballwin Board of Aldermen Revisits Contract Bidding

A new ordinance is on the agenda for Monday's meeting requiring competitive bidding for contracts lasting longer than 10 years.

The Ballwin Board of Aldermen will tackle a lengthy agenda during their meeting Aug. 20.

The Board will consider an ordinance that would require multiple bids for contracts lasting 10 years or more for city services. The decision comes after to grant Allied Waste an additional long-term contract without any other competitive bids being taken into consideration.Β

Alderman Shamed Dogan had said that Ballwin had not requested a bid for any other trash service providers outside of Allied since 1995.

The ordinance on the table reads:

Also on the agenda is a new public works mutual assistance agreement with neighboring West County communities. The new agreement would terminate the current plan, last revised in 2002. Chesterfield's Parks Department drew up a detailed plan that has been in the works for several months, and the Ballwin Board will vote to accept the plan Monday.

The complete agenda is available on the City of Ballwin's website.
