Ballwin Planning and Zoning to Review Gun Range Proposal

The Ballwin Planning and Zoning commission will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the Ballwin Golf Course clubhouse.

The backer of a proposed indoor shooting range will request a zoning ordinance change, for the location of the potential business, on Monday night.

John Henderson will petition on behalf of Hindo LLC, which also owns American Arms and Supply Company, to allow the use of an indoor gun range on the third lot of the U-Gas subdivision, according to the commission's agenda. It would be located on part of the old Rothman Furniture location that now houses a Wendy's restaurant.

This request is continued from the June planning and zoning meeting. In the time since the request was introduced, the city's Board of Aldermen approved an ordinance that allows indoor gun ranges to be considered under a special uses exemption in the Ballwin code of ordinances.

A petition to build permanent covers over the patio eating areas at the Ballwin Grove Plaza, particularly for the Circle 7 Ranch and Mia Sorella restaurants, is also on the commission's agenda.

The Planning and Zoning commission will also hear requests to change zoning district classifications.

McKelvey Homes is petitioning to change its classification, at 628 to 630 Kehrs Mill Rd, to develop a single family subdivision. Triostone Properties, at 855 Westglen Village, will request to change its classification so it may develop a 10 lot single family subdivision on approximately 3 acres.

The Ballwin Planning and Zoning commission will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the Ballwin Golf Course clubhouse, 333 Holloway Road, because the Police and Courts building is undergoing renovations.
