Ballwin Poised to Repeal Extra Speeding Fines

Several of Ballwin's "double fine zones" could be repealed if city council members approve an ordinance before the council Monday.

Drivers in Ballwin could be able to cruise a bit more carefree if an ordinance before council members moves forward Monday night.

At the city's next council meeting, the Ballwin Board of Aldermen is likely to vote on a proposal that would eliminate all but five of the city's current 19 "double fine zones," wherein drivers ticketed for speeding face rates twice as expensive as the city's standard ticket rates.

If the ordinance scheduled for a vote Monday night is approved, the only double fine zones that remain in place would be along Hillsdale Drive, New Ballwin Road, Old Ballwin Road, Ramsey Lane and Reinke Road.
