Ballwin Police Receive $14,000 For Traffic Enforcement

The Ballwin Police Department was awarded three separate traffic enforcement grants by MoDOT.

The Ballwin Police Department received three traffic enforcement grants totaling$14,000, according to a news release from the department.

The release stated that Ballwin police were awarded the grants by the Missouri Department of Transportation and the funding with be used for this fiscal year which runs Oct. 1, 2012 to Sept. 30 2013. 

"The grant money will be used to pay for additional officers who will be assigned to Ballwin’s roadways for the specific purpose of furthering MoDOT and the City of Ballwin’s efforts to increase roadway safety," the release stated. It added that enforcement reduces "hazardous driving" which in turn reduces the number of car accidents and injuries.

Police stated that the money will be used as follows.

  • $7,500.00 MoDOT grant for DWI detection and enforcement.
  • $4,000.00 MoDOT grant for moving violations enforcement.
  • $2,500.00 MoDOT grant for occupant protection enforcement.
