Ballwin to Address Road Improvement, Proposed Drug Bans

Bans on drugs and issues affecting a city street and sidewalks are likely to come up at tonight's city council meeting in Ballwin.

Discussions of select sidewalk and street improvements and a vote on banning two types of drugs within the city are scheduled for Monday night's city council meeting in Ballwin.

At the city's , city officials discussed a possible ban on the drugs known as "K2" and other synethetic cannabinoids, as well as drugs relying on the active chemical methylenedioxypyrovalerone  (or MDPV) commonly called "bath salts." Council members are scheduled to vote on the proposed bans Monday.

Aldermen also are scheduled to discuss updates about cooperative effort to repair Rojean Drive paid for by the cities of Ballwin and Ellisville. Board members are expected to approve a payment of $11,815 for Ballwin's share of the project.

Ballwin Board of Aldermen members also may vote to amend a 2005 ordinance approved under former Mayor Walt Young which outlined the federally-subsidized construction of sidewalks along Manchester Road.

The board is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the. Board members will attend an open meeting regarding the city's 2012 budget at 5:30 p.m.; Monday's budget meeting will include a review of Parks and Recreation Department expenses.
