City Budgets, Legal Representation to be Discussed Monday

The Ballwin Board of Aldermen is scheduled to meet Monday evening to consider issues ranging from 2011 budget changes to door-to-door solicitation.

Mayor Tim Pogue and the Ballwin Board of Aldermen are scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 14 at the to discuss and act on issues pertaining to city business. A summary of Monday's scheduled items are included below. All members of the public are welcome to attend.

BUDGET AMENDMENTS (Bill 3664)

Several adjustments to the 2011 budget were requested by city representatives due to "current conditions which were unforeseen at the time of adoption," according to a memo from the city clerk's office.

STREET SWEEPING

The city council will consider awarding aΒ  contract to Contractor & Municipal Sweeping Services following its submission of a bid for city services of $19,688.50.

PUBLIC WORKS

Alderman James Terbrock would like to discuss the city's "supplemental street allocation formula" and the possibility of establishing environmental standards.

MINI PICKUP TRUCK

The city council will consider purchasing a replacement vehicle from Lou Fusz Automotive following their submission of a bid for the mini pickup truck at $18,637 without accounting for possible trade in values.

APPAREL FOR 'BALLWIN DAYS'

Apparel bids were solicited for staff, event participants, and the Ballwin Days Committee.Β  The city will consider accepting a bid from Just Me Apparel for $16,235.86.

POOL PAINTING & SANDBLASTING

The city council will consider accepting a bid from Joseph Ward Painting Co. who submitted a bid for city services in the amount of $35,001.

NORTH POINTE REQUEST

The City of Wildwood has requested a limited number of family passes for its residents under the same financial terms as 2010.

PROSECUTING ATTORNEY

It is recommended that Dave Porta be appointed to the position of Prosecuting Attorney; Ballwin's former prosecuting attorney, Keith Cheung,.

LEGAL ISSUES

Alderman Frank Fleming will discuss possible revisions to the city code pertaining to the city's prosecuting attorney and has requested a closed session to discuss personnel.

LEGAL UPDATES

City Attorney Bob Jones will address the various legal issues since the last board meeting.

BOARD ROOM UPGRADES

A preliminary review was conducted to address audio/visual issues with the board room at the Police and Court Center. Further direction was requested.

DOOR-TO-DOOR SOLICITATION

City Attorney Bob Jones has incorporated recommended changes to the city's for consideration.

FINANCES

Alderman Richard Boerner would like to discuss the city's year-end financial report.

JEFFERSON SPEED LIMIT (Bill 3663)

The city council will consider approving a 20 mph speed limit along this roadway.
