City Manager Update: Bookout Still On The Job In Ellisville

City Council members must still vote on an actual resolution calling for the Ellisville to fire its City Manager.

Ellisville City Manager Kevin Bookout reported for duty at City Hall Thursday, one day after learning that a majority of the City Council formally directed the City's Attorney to draft a resolution seeking Bookout's removal from office.

Bookout promptly left council chambers at the end of Wednesday's council meeting after the 4-3 vote and didn't answer questions from reporters. He did not respond to Patch attempts to reach him Thursday.

Mayor Adam Paul clarified some of the comments which came after Wednesday's motion to seek Bookout's removal under the city's charter, mainly to state that the process has just started. Councilman Mick Cahill, who introduced the motion, indicated after the meeting that it took immediate effect, starting a five day clock for Bookout to appeal. Paul, however, confirmed that the council will still need to vote on the actual resolution once it is drafted, at an upcoming meeting. If it were to pass, Bookout would then have five days to appeal the vote to a meeting in front of the council.

Some on the council who voted against the motion were still investigating Thursday if proper procedures had been followed Wednesday.
