Creve Coeur Red-Light Camera Use OK'd; Ellisville Class-Action Suit Remains

The City of Ellisville along with Creve Coeur and others remain defendants in a class-action suit against multiple municipalities for their use of red-light safety cameras.

A state appellate court has backed the city of Creve Coeur's red light camera traffic enforcement program, over the objections of a woman who claimed the system violated her due process rights.

Creve Coeur City Attorney Carl Lumley said he was "pleased that the court agreed with the city that it's (red light cameras) an important public safety tool." A spokeswoman for one of the attorneys representing the plaintiff in the case said they respectfully disagreed with the decision and would continue on with the appeals process, which could include a rehearing by the full court, or a transfer to the Missouri Supreme Court.
