Ellisville Kicking Off 2012 With Town Hall

Ellisville council members opted to begin the new year with a town hall meeting Wednesday night in lieu of the day's normally-scheduled city council meeting.

In 2010, the city held , most of which were devoted to the city's finances, including sales tax revenue. Council members later voted in favor of putting a sales tax increase before voters, which Ellisville in April.

Board members, city staff and members of the public present also discussed efforts to court "big box" retailers in order to garner more sales tax revenues for the city.

"It’s really going to be an open forum," Mayor Matt Pirrello said of Wednesday night's meeting, which he described as informal.

Pirrello said he will address a in office, namely because that proposal ultimately would require voters’ approval.

“Because we don’t want to waste time and money putting that on the ballot of the public’s not interested,” Pirrello said.

The upcoming town hall meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4 at the Parks Administration Building in Bluebird Park.
