'Great Streets' Marks $5 Million for Ballwin, Ellisville and Wildwood

The cities of Ballwin, Ellisville and Wildwood will receive $5 million for road resurfacing under the long-term Great Streets initiative, a long-term plan launched in 2006 meant to reshape the Manchester Road corridor for multiple cities around West St. Louis County.

Pirrello said at the that Ellisville and representatives for other participating cities will continue with bi-monthly meetings, the next of which is scheduled for Monday, May 7. Going forward, those meetings likely will alternate between being hosted by the and the Missouri Department of Transportation.

“Because we’re working with MoDOT right now, we’re tring to accommodate their schedule so they can be participating and have all the resources available,” Pirrello said.

Pirrello said those meetings should close in on key details between MoDOT and the City.

“We intend on solidifying our agreement with MoDOT for the expenditures of the $5 million they have allocated for enhancements during the resurfacing project in 2014," Pirrello said. "And that is going to be evenly distributed between the cities of Ballwin, Ellisville and Wildwood.”

Project organizers have said the currently is in its fourth phase, wherein consultants are helping participating communities develop construction design documents and assisting the five cities on Manchester Road in West County with development of a corridor plan.  See the Demonstration Projects page on the official Great Streets website for information on the four projects.
