Members of The Pointe: Get Discounts If You 'Shop Ballwin First'

The city is revamping a program that gives discounts at city businesses to residents who are members at The Pointe at Ballwin Commons.

It's part of a years-old program in Ballwin called "Shop Ballwin First" that fell into decline and has been revamped since summertime with the arrival of Jessica Crawley, a recreation specialist at The Pointe.

"It's an ongoing program, but we've had some businesses that have fallen off," Crawley said. "When I was hired, one of my duties was to revamp the program."

Since she started working on it, the number of businesses participating in Shop Ballwin First has climbed from about 10 to 28. They're listed on the city's website and include establishments such as Calliers Home Plate, The Dent Devil, Fortel's Pizza Den and Gateway Kitchen and Bath.

"It doesn't cost the business anything; they just have to honor the discount. And we advertise for them on our city website," Crawley said.

Crawley said she would like to see at least 40 businesses in the program. She's also been reaching out to area businesses that have corporate headquarters elsewhere, such as Hobby Lobby, to see if they'll participate.

Anyone who has a membership at The Pointe—whether they're a Ballwin resident or not—can get the discount by showing their membership key fob. Or, residents who have a resident ID card from The Pointe can use that to get the discount.
