Pogue Beats McCloskey; Harder Upsets McDermott

Mayor Tim Pogue secures a 2nd term leading the board of aldermen, while newcomer Mark Harder beat out newly-appointed Pat McDermott, according to unofficial election results.

Despite five open seats heading into the April elections Tuesday, the Ballwin Board of Aldermen will welcome only one new face when it convenes later this month: Mark Harder.

Harder is a realtor with Prudential Alliance who has lived in Ballwin since 1993. Harder also is a subdivision trustee for Coppersmith Place in Ballwin and has worked for Republican State Senator Jane Cunningham.

Harder beat out Pat McDermott by a narrow margin with 498 votes to McDermott's 463. Tuesday's unofficial election numbers mark the end of a 5 month term for McDermott, who is a paramedic and firefighter with the Metro West Fire Protection District.
