Potential Ballwin Gun Range Progress Is Paused

Ballwin's Planning and Zoning Commission met at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 1, at the Ballwin Golf Course Clubhouse (333 Holloway Road).

The indoor shooting range proposed for Ballwin did not take another step toward opening its doors for business this week, but neither did it retreat.

Legislation expected to be seen by the Planning and Zoning Commission at its regular meeting Monday night was tabled for a future review. The requested zoning ordinance change was set aside, again, after being continued from the commission’s June meeting

It could be brought back up for discussion at the next meeting, on Monday, Aug. 5 Hindo LLC, which also owns American Arms and Supply in Ballwin, is negotiating to put an indoor shooting range on part of the old Rothman Furniture site.

That location is now home to a Wendy's restaurant, and a future U-Gas Convenience Store & Car Wash that's scheduled to open in September.

The commission also approved a petition from the owner of the U-Gas site to build an underground water detention facility so that a parking lot may be built on the ground level surface.

All the requests approved by the Ballwin Planning and Zoning commission will also need to be authorized by the Ballwin Board of Aldermen. The next meeting of the board is scheduled for Monday, July 15.

Ballwin’s Planning and Zoning commission also reviewed proposals for new residential developments at its meeting.
