State Treasurer Zweifel Visits Marcella's Mia Sorella in Ballwin

Clint Zweifel stopped by the Ballwin restaurant to talk about the Missouri Linked Deposit Program the owners made use of for their small business.

Missouri State Treasurer Clint Zweifel made a planned pitstop at Marcella's Mia Sorella in Ballwin Wednesday.

Mia Sorella, an Italian restaurant at 14426 Clayton Road in the Ballwin Grove development, opened last September as an effort by brothers Jamie and Stephen Komorek. The Komorek brothers also own Trattoria Marcella at 3600 Watson Road, Mia Sorella's sister restaurant that has been in the area for 18 years.

Zweifel stopped by to announce the use of a Missouri Linked Deposit Program loan at Mia Sorella. The program, in parnership with Eagle Bank and Trust Company, is geared for small business owners and entrepreneurs.

For Marcella's Mia Sorella, the $250,000 loan aided in purchasing capital, fixtures, furniture and machinery. Zweifel said the loan could save the restaurant about $20,000 over the next five years.

"Trattoria Marcella has been part of St. Louis for 18 years and helping the Komorek family grow their business with Mia Sorella is what the Missouri Linked Deposit Program is all about," Zweifel said. "Mia Sorella has created nearly 40 new jobs in this community and provided a new option for families."
