Meeting With Residents and Local Leaders

Last weekend I had the opportunity to meet with eight constituents from the 100th district to discuss their comments and concerns about the issues being debated by the General Assembly.

It was a pleasure to meet with citizens that were engaged in the legislative process and involved in their communities. We covered a variety of topics, including the recent lack of economic growth and opportunity, properly funding Missouri’s transportation network, strengthening Missouri’s education system, and curbing our state’s ever-increasing healthcare costs. Input from those I have the honor of serving is of critical importance, and I appreciate everyone who takes the time to make their voice heard.

I was also able to meet with local leaders from St. Louis County, including Town and Country Mayor Jon Dalton, at a lunch hosted by the St. Louis County Municipal League. I spoke to their group about the work of the Joint Interim Committee on St. Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area Governance and Taxation.

This committee commissioned an independent study on the taxation and governance issues facing the St. Louis region. The study, which will be completed in May, will serve as a starting point for future discussions on reforms to improve the services available to area residents and encourage sustainable economic growth.
