Parkway and Rockwood's Partnership Exemplifies Cooperation, Efficiency

In an effort to save money and improve services, the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts voted to combine their community education programs beginning in July 2014.

The ten-year partnership will enable them to provide community members with a wider array of classes and opportunities, and the broader resident base will ensure the programs’ long-term financial sustainability.

Parkway and Rockwood’s community education programs offer classes on a variety of topics, including computers, CPR, and finance, to help residents develop valuable life skills. Students of all ages can also attend recreational classes like cooking, gardening, and crafting.

Efficient government necessitates doing more with less whenever possible. Combining resources and eliminating overlapping services conserves tax dollars while preserving a program’s quality.

The partnership between Parkway and Rockwood is an excellent model of cooperation, and I hope other government entities will follow their lead and streamline services whenever possible.
