Ballwin, Ellisville Schools Close Early

Both the Parkway and Rockwood school districts announced closures Monday due to weather, which is expected to include up to 3 inches of snow near Ballwin.

Public schools in Ellisville and Ballwin will be sending students home early Monday due to weather conditions, the Parkway and Rockwood school districts announced.

Rockwood School District representatives announced early dismissal for all district schools shortly after 10 a.m., saying that schools would follow the shortened-schedule observed on the district's professional development days.

Rockwod representatives said afternoon kindergarten and early childhood special education classes were canceled, and students who normally attend the would remain at their home school Monday. All field trips, after school activities and adventure club also were cancelled.

Parkway School District representatives said on the district website that Tier 1 schools would close at 12:30, Tier 2 schools would close at 1:15 and Tier 3 schools would close at 2 p.m. All after school activities and meetings, including Y Club and Project Parkway, also are cancelled for Monday.

The National Weather Service forecasted a 100 percent chance of snow for Ballwin on Monday afternoon, with a combination of snow and freezing rain predicted for Monday night. Little or no ice accumulation is expected, although the .
