Ellisville Elementary Among 'Character Award' Recipients

Ellisville Elementary School was selected for a 2012 Missouri Schools of Character award by the Character Education Partnership.

was one of just 12 schools throughout the state to receive a 2012 Missouri Schools Character award, the Rockwood School District announced this week.

The award is given out annually by the Character Education Partnership, a Washington D.C.-based advocacy group, to schools based on how strongly they embody and encourage traits such as cooperation, integrity, responsibility and self control.

“Rockwood has outstanding schools, students and staff, and it’s rewarding for our schools to be recognized for their hard work in the area of character education and school climate,” said Jane Brown, the Rockwood School District's Director of Differentiated Services.

Also selected as a 2012 recipient of a Missouri Schools Character award was in Eureka.

The addition of these schools increases the total number of schools that have earned state level recognition for character education to 11:  Babler Elementary, Blevins Elementary, Bowles Elementary, Chesterfield Elementary, , Kehrs Mill Elementary, Geggie Elementary, Kellison Elementary, Uthoff Valley Elementary,  and .
