Ellisville Students 'Target' Hunger

Students at Ellisville Elementary School paired up with the St. Louis Area Foodbank following a field trip grant awarded by local Target stores.

With a charitable cause in her heart and a desire to promote experiential learning, teacher Jennifer Strub led a class of more than 100 students on a field trip to aid the St. Louis Area Foodbank.

Following a field-trip grant awarded by local Target retailers to the fifth-grade teacher, her students travelled to the local charity late last week to sort and package more than 22,000 pounds of food expected to provide more than 18,000 meals for families in need. The trip also was preceded by a food drive that collected an estimated 650 meals.

One group of students also had the opportunity to meet Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder, who appeared at the foodbank last week.
