Fast Five: Michael Skordos on Parkway West Boys Soccer

Patch asked Parkway West Boys Soccer Head Coach Michael Skordos five quick questions about the Longhorns season so far.

The Parkway West boys soccer team has been busy at freshmen, junior varsity and varsity playing levels so far this season. With varsity 4-3 in season play and 15 games remaining as of Sept. 11, Patch asked Head Coach Michael Skordos about the team's start and their "goals" for the rest of the season.

Patch: What have been the biggest challenges facing the team so far this season?

Parkway West Boys Soccer Head Coach Michael Skordos: Being mentally prepared each game. The Suburban South Conference is very competitive this soccer season. With teams like Parkway Central, Summit, Webster and Kirkwood all having great starts this season, you have to show up every game.

Patch: What are the team's strengths and weaknesses?

Skordos: We have a great group of student athletes who excel in the classroom and the soccer field this season. All these players are friends on and off the field. At this time we don't see any weaknesses, but on how we must work each day to get bigger, faster and stronger.

Skordos: Competitive, Passion, Desire

Patch: What improvements have the Longhorns made since their last game?

Skordos: The boys have worked over the summer to improve their game. The hard work is starting to show.

Patch: Other than earning wins, what are some other goals (pun intended) the team has for the season?

Skordos: Parkway West has now dropped down to Class 2 in soccer along with Parkway Central. We look to stay competitive throughout the season, and make a run in the playoffs.

The Longhorns varsity soccer team defeated Seckman Tuesday to improve their record to 4-3 and takes on DeSoto at home Thursday at 5 p.m. Sept. 15 against Jackson at 10 a.m. and versus Rolla at 2 p.m.
