Parkway ACT Scores Above State, National Averages

Parkway students scored above the state and national averages on ACT results, according to the Parkway School District.

The made the announcement in a news release this week. 

The ACT is a national college admissions examination consisting of subject area tests in english, math, science and reading. The test is designed to assess a high school students' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work, Parkway explaind in the release.

According to the district, Parkway students Parkway students beat state and national averages of 2012 ACT results. The testing data released this month shows the ACT composite score for Parkway is 23.3, up from 22.9 in 2011.

Parkway stated in the news release that the state and national averages are 21.6 and 21.1 "respectively." This information can be viewed in the graph found in the PDF portion of this article.

Parkway explained in the release that each test is scored on a scale of 1-36. Each student’s composite score is the average of four test scores.

"Beginning in 2010, all juniors in Parkway began taking the ACT exam at no cost to students.  Parkway offers the test to everyone in an effort to assist high school students as they prepare for graduation and beyond," Parkway stated in the release.
