Parkway Grad Scott Langley Qualifies for 2013 PGA Tour

Parkway South graduate and West County native Scott Langley qualified for the 2013 PGA Tour.

The following information was provided by The Country Club of St. Albans in a news release last week.

The Country Club of St. Albans is pleased to announce one if its members has qualified for the 2013 PGA Tour. Scott Langley, shot a four-under-par 68 in the final round of qualifying at TPC Stadium Course in La Quinta, CA this week.  Langley finished 17th, making him one of top 25 finishers in the PGA Tour qualifying tournament, giving him a 2013 PGA Tour Card.

“Scott is a tremendous young golfer who will be an exciting addition to the PGA Tour next year,” said The Country Club of St. Albans General Manager David Derfel. “St. Louis has a long history of golfers on the PGA Tour with names like Hale Irwin and Jay Williamson. We are proud to have one of our members make golf’s biggest stage.”

Next year, the PGA will change the way golfers qualify.  Q-school will only provide cards for the Web.com Tour, making the opportunity for the PGA Tour even more competitive.

“This milestone for me is extra special,” said Scott Langley.  “It means a lot to take my golf career to the next level.  I’ll be playing against the best golfers in the world every week.  It’s a dream.  I thank everyone who helped make it a reality, including The Country Club of St. Albans.”

The 2013 PGA Tour tees off in Hawaii this January.

As previously reported by Patch, Langley is a 2007 graduate of Manchester's Parkway South High School and was inducted as the sixth member of Parkway South's sports hall of fame in January, 2011.

Langley also took the NCAA Championship in golf and was the first Parkway student athlete to ever win a NCAA Individual Championship Division.
 
The University of Illinois graduate took 16th place at the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach in 2010 and returned to play in the U.S. Open this summer.
