Parkway South Patriots Help Live Up to Name

Students at Parkway South High School will take part later this month in a naturalization ceremony for new U.S. Citizens.

Parkway South High School is hosting a special naturalization ceremony on Wednesday, April 25.

Judge Kathy A. Surratt-States of United States Bankruptcy Court will be presiding over the day's ceremonies wherein about 100 immigrants will be sworn in as United States citizens by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).  The guest speaker for the event is attorney and former Parkway Board of Education director, Dudley McCarter.

South High government students will be present to witness the ceremony and participate in the process, while South’s Patriot Honor Guard will present the colors; Advanced Chamber Choir will sing the National Anthem and God Bless America; Key Club will be giving American Flags to new citizens; Pro Start 3 classes and cooking club will be providing a dessert buffet for new citizens and their guests; sociology class is acting as host and hostesses for all the special guests; book club will be giving patriotic themed bookmarks to each citizen; and foreign language, government and U.S. History classes among others will be attending the ceremony.
