Parkway South Student Receives Citizenship Award

Si Qi 'Rocky' Leng was one of 15 students in Missouri to receive the 2012 Outstanding Achievement in Citizenship Award.

ο»Ώ senior Si Qi "Rocky" Leng was among a handful of students recently honored for academics, civic engagement and community service, the Parkway School District announced Monday.

Leng and 15 other Missouri students will be recognized at a luncheon at the Governor's Mansion in Jefferson City, and will receive a $50 savings bond for the award, which has been presented every year since 1990. Since that time, the program has operated through the cooperation of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Missouri Bar Association.

Also honored were Jonathan Rembold of Parkway Central High and Anthony Henderson of Parkway North High.

Every public high school in Missouri is eligible to nominate one senior for the award on the basis of academic achievements, as well as the student's engagement in civic activities, extra curricular activities and community service. Students also must submit an essay regarding the importance of citizenship.
