Parkway West Asst. Principal Moves On

Tim McCarthy, an assistant principal at Parkway West High School, will take over the principal's office at Parkway Central on July 1.

An assistant principal at will take over the reins at this summer.

Tim McCarthy has been named the new principal of Parkway Central High, district staff announced Thursday. McCarthy will replace current principal . McCarthy is scheduled to take over in July.

"Mr. Gannon has established a standard of high student achievement while also creating a welcoming and caring climate at Parkway Central," an email to parents from the Parkway School District said. "He has served the students, parents and staff with exceptional care and dedication. Selecting a principal to continue Central’s high standards and move Central forward has been the goal in the principal screening and selection process."

According to a media statement from the district, McCarthy has 16 years of experience in public education as a teacher and administrator. He has been at Parkway West for 11 years, first as a social studies teacher. He has been an administrative intern and assistant principal for the last five years, the email to parents stated. He has taught previously at St. John Vianney High School in Kirkwood. 

"Mr. McCarthy is committed to the achievement of all students and will continue to guide the mission of Central High School in the future," the email stated.

McCarthy has a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, according to the release.
