Principals Association: Marquette High Has Model New Leader

The St. Louis Association of Secondary School Principals gave special recognition to Marquette High School Principal Greg Mathison.

Marquette High School Principal Greg Mathison was named Exemplary New Principal by the St. Louis Association of Secondary School Principals, district officials announced Thursday.

Assistant Principal Jennifer Sebold said it was Mathison's positive attitude and work ethic that led her to nominate him for the award, which is reserved for educators with less than three years of experience as a school administrator.

“The enthusiasm and support for students and staff exhibited by Dr. Mathison is a tremendous asset to Marquette High and our school community,” Sebold said.

Before becoming principal, Mathison worked as the school's assistant principal and previously worked as a teacher and coach at Lafayette High School. Mathison also is a graduate of the Rockwood School Distirict where he teaches.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by the St. Louis Association of Secondary School Principals and my peers,” Mathison said. “The students, staff and parents make Marquette High an exceptional school and I am blessed to have the opportunity to serve them.”
