Rockwood Names Marquette Seniors as Commended Scholars

Ten of the 40 Rockwood School District high school seniors just named Commended Scholars in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program attend Marquette High School.

Of the 40 Rockwood School District high school seniors named Commended Scholars in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program, 10 hail from the Marquette High School in Chesterfield.

This year's Marquette recipients include:

  • Brennon Bastean
  • Ryan Blake
  • Emily Eggmann
  • Logan Jardine
  • Kiersten Kuc
  • Daniel Mannion
  • Dominick Rodriguez
  • Kevin Shi
  • Danielle Whitaker
  • Karen Zhang

Commended students represent some of the most academically talented students in the nation, according to a Rockwood announcement. Although these students will not continue in the competition for 2013 National Merit Scholarships, they placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). 

About 34,000 students across the nation are recognized as Commended Scholars.
