Teacher at School for Gifted in Ellisville Honored

Chris Nobbe of the Center for Creative Learning in Ellisville will receive an Outstanding Educator of Gifted Award from the Gifted Association of Missouri.

The Gifted Association of Missouri is honoring second-grade teacher Chris Nobbe of the Center for Creative Learning in Ellisville based on her astronomical success educating some of the area's brightest students, district staff announced Monday.

Nobbe said in a media statement that she was delighted with the award and grateful for the chance to apply her passions to the classroom.

"I am a career teacher, and I am fortunate to bring years of experience working with thousands of gifted learners, and years of service with the National Association for Gifted Children, to the classroom," Nobbe said.

Within a 32 year career, Nobbe has spent 20 of them at the , which educates select first and second-grade students at the campus adjacent to Ellisville Elementary School, and third, fourth and fifth grade students at center on Old State Road.

Dr. Linda Smith, director of the Center for Creative Learning, said Nobbe is an asset to the school and its students' understanding of space and astronomy.

“Her wealth of knowledge and assembled resources has allowed her to unleash students’ imaginations and creative capabilities. We are fortunate to have her on our team to help students discover the world around and, in this case, above them.”

Nobbe also teaches courses on educating gifted students as an adjunct faculty member at Webster University.

The 30th Annual Gifted Association of Missouri Conference honoring Nobbe and others is scheduled for Oct. 23 in Columbia, MO.
