Westridge 2nd-Grader Set for National Braille Competition

What's propelling Richie Tienter to the summer competition in Los Angeles?

Richie Tienter is a second-grader at Westridge Elementary in Ballwin and this summer, he'll represent his school and his state in the national Braille competition in Los Angeles.

The youngster won the honor in February, according to the Rockwood School District's website, after finishing in the top 12 in the country, taking first-place at the Regional Braille Challenge.

"Richie’s thirst for knowledge is contagious for those around him," Elizabeth Cook, teacher of the visually impaired, said in a statement. "He continues to set and achieve challenging goals for his progress in and out of the classroom."
