Ballwin's Rogol Named Head Coach for Missouri Monsters Pro Football Team

The Monsters will host tryouts Aug. 4 at 9 a.m. at the Family Arena.

The Missouri Monsters, the newest pro football team to play in St. Charles, introduced a coaching staff filled with familiar faces on Thursday. 

Each member of the coaching staff spent some time coaching the RiverCity Rage, the first indoor football team to play at the , which folded in 2009. 

The Monsters are an expansion team for the United Indoor Football League, and will start practicing in February 2013. They are expected to play seven home games from March-June.

Jarrad Rogol, currently special teams coordinator for Lutheran South High School, will be head coach for the Missouri Monsters. A 2001 graduate of Webster Groves High School, Rogol spent the 2006 season with the RiverCity Rage as assistant to General manager Mike Wyatt. Rogol lives in Ballwin and has coached several other arena football teams.

Other coaches include Jeff Hunt, assistant head coach and defensive coordinator, J.T. Thompson, offensive coordinator, Charles Edmunds, line coach, and Kareem Wise, offensive assistant, all whom either coached or played for RiverCity Rage.

Tryouts for the Monsters will be held Saturday at the Family Arena at 10 a.m. with registration starting at 9 a.m. Fans are welcome to watch the tryouts starting at 10 a.m. Tryouts are open to anyone 18 and older and cost $75. 

Rogol said they are going to put a team on the field that will show everyone they play the toughest for longest. 

"If each player individually does his job, smarter, tougher and harder for longer than the player he's lined up against, the rest of it will take care of itself," he said.

On Wednesday afternoon, Jordan Martin, a 2006 MICDS graduate, and Chase McCoy of Blue Springs, Mo., were the first two players to sign for the team. 

Season tickets to Missouri Monster games are on sale now. Single game tickets start at $7 and go up to $45 for seats in the first two rows. Season tickets range from $42 to $270. 

"It's priced just right I think," said Owner Andrew Haines. "Especially with all the families in this community. I expect to see a lot of them out there." 

The team partnered with Wounded Warriors Project to donate 1,000 season tickets to anyone who served in the armed forces. Servicemen and women are invited to contact the office at (636) 395-0896 to sign up. 

Tryout information 

Saturday, Aug. 4, 9 a.m. registration, 10 a.m. tryouts begin, at Family Arena, 2002 Arena Parkway, St. Charles, Mo. Cost is $75.
