Game Preview: Undefeated Parkway South to Battle Lindbergh

The Flyers (2-1) will travel north to face Suburban West Conference rival Parkway South (3-0).

Lindbergh heads into this weekend facing a stiff test as the Flyers will venture north to face Suburban West Conference rival on Friday night.

The Flyers come into the game seeking their fifth consecutive win over the Patriots, having defeated them in each of the past four seasons in close games.

When Lindbergh has the ball, senior quarterback Peter Simpson is the Flyers’ conductor on offense.

Simpson has thrown for 532 yards with seven touchdowns and just one interception in leading the Flyers to a this season. Simpon’s main target in the Flyers’ spread passing game is sophomore receiver Garrett Krueger. Krueger has 151 yards receiving while averaging 21.6 yards per catch.

Krueger’s older brother, Grant, a senior running back/defensive back, powers the Flyers rushing attack, averaging 5.0 yards per carry.

Defensively, Lindbergh expects contributions from senior defensive lineman Chris Kew and Grant Krueger to help slow down a balanced, but effective Parkway South offense. Kew and Krueger lead the Flyers with 31 and 19 tackles, respectively. , 34-3, last Friday.

The Flyers' lone loss was a 24-21 overtime defeat at home against Lafayette.

Parkway South, which moved to 3-0 after defeating Oakville, 12-6, last week, is led by senior running back Cameron Bounds and senior quarterback Eric Laurent.

Laurent has rushed for rushed for three touchdowns and thrown for three TDs in three games. Bounds has been the Patriots’ driving force in the running game with 333 yards rushing on 60 carries. He is averaging 5.6 yards per rush.

South will look to contain Simpson and Co. defensively with key help from senior linebacker Kalane Johnson, junior linebacker Kellen Ash and junior linebacker Jordan Noyes. The trio has registered 29, 26, and 24 total tackles, respectively, and Ash has been harassing quarterbacks regularly with nine sacks in three games.
