Lafayette, Lindbergh Gear Up For Early Season Conference Showdown

This matchup features two of the area's best QBs in Lafayette's Dominic Besisi and Lindbergh's Peter Simpson.

The premier matchup in Week 2 of the Suburban West Conference football season pits two of the league favorites against one another with the Lafayette Lancers traveling from West County to South County to take on the Lindbergh Flyers.

Last week, both squads got their respective 2011 seasons off to remarkable starts with big-time wins over Eureka and Oakville, respectively. 35-28, while 42-0.

Friday night’s matchup at Flyers Field figures to be a showdown of two of the area’s best quarterbacks, with Lafayette senior Dominic Besisi leading the Lancers against Lindbergh senior Peter Simpson.

Last week, Besisi threw for 355 yards and a touchdown in the win over Eureka, while Simpson passed for 178 yards and three TDs in the Flyers’ domination of Oakville.

The two defenses were also excellent last week.

Lafayette junior Shacquill Holley led the Lancers “D” with 13 tackles and two pass breakups. Meanwhile, Lindbergh’s Chris Kew had seven tackles and teammate Jordan Goodman added a 60-yard interception return for a touchdown for the Flyers.

Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. at Flyers Field, and please stay tuned to Patch.com for full coverage of this Friday night showdown.
