Parkway West Upends University City In Football Season Opener
Senior running back Ed Carter carried the ball 26 times for 152 yards, and senior tight end Zach Lathrop scored two touchdowns to lead Longhorns to win.
UNIVERSITY CITY – The Parkway West Longhorns scored early and often Friday evening at University City High School’s Muhl-Schemmer Stadium, in what proved to be a convincing 47-33 win over the host Lions.
West senior Ed Carter had a big day on the ground for the Longhorns, rushing 26 times for 152 yards, while teammate Zach Lathrop caught two touchdown passes as West pulled away in the first game of the new varsity football season for both teams.
University City quarterback DeAndre Washington threw three touchdowns passes and ran for another to lead the Lions, who never recovered from falling behind 10-0 in the game’s first eight minutes.
