Reports: Blaine Gabbert Injures Ankle

The Ballwin native faces a critical season in his NFL career.

Add Ballwin native Blaine Gabbert to the list of the NFL's walking wounded, just a week into the start of preseason training camps.

According to multiple media outlets, Gabbert, a first round draft pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2011 draft, suffered a sprained right ankle at practice Monday and will be evaluated over the next two days, according to the Jaguars' Twitter account.

While the injury is not as serious as the season-ending knee injury that struck fellow former MU star Jeremy Maclin over the weekend, the time off the field is not what the former Parkway West QB needs heading into a critical season with a new head coach.

Some are suggesting Gabbert could be at something of a career crossroads, with a new head coach to win over.

The Florida Times-Union noted before the injury that things did not get off to a good start over the weekend.
