Tyler Gabbert Leaves Mizzou

The younger brother of Parkway West alum-gone-pro Blaine Gabbert announced Monday that he'll no longer play football for University of Missouri.

Come this fall, the Gabberts' connections to University of Missouri football will become a thing of the past.

The family from Ballwin solidified local football legend last month when former Mizzou quarterback Blaine Gabbert was – a transition into the pros that Blaine waived his rights for another season with the Tigers in order to qualify for.

Just four months after Blaine announced he was leaving Mizzou to seek the pros, his younger brother and fellow alumni Tyler Gabbert said he, too, is leaving the Missouri program.

"We wish Tyler the best and will do everything we can to assist him going forward," said Head Coach Gary Pinkel. "He's worked very hard in our program this past year, and we thank him for his efforts. Tyler is a high quality person and an outstanding football player," he said.

Tyler GabbertΒ  was recruited to play last fall as a freshman, but was "red-shirted" and effectively sat out the season. A writer for ESPN.com pointed out that although Gabbert did not indicate where he plans to transfer, he previously committed to University of Nebraska before backing out and attending Mizzou.
