The decision to postpone the fireworks display was made in collaboration with the Metro West Fire Protection District, Ellisville police said, with possible rain dates in August.

Editor's Note: The following was submitted by the Ellisville Police Department:

The City of Ellisville’s Annual Independence Day Celebration in Bluebird Park on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 has been postponed.

After thorough evaluation and collaboration with the Metro West Fire Protection District, the City has determined that the extreme drought conditions make it unsafe to proceed with the firework display in Bluebird Park. All Independence Day events, including games, activities, fireworks, and the Sh-Boom Concert, have been postponed until further notice. The City is working to reschedule the Celebration some time during the months of August or September.
