Give a Howl: Contribute to Ellisville's Community Dog Park

Help make the Ellisville Dog Park a reality by taking part in one of two planned fundraisers: The Pooch Plunge events in September and the Howl-Oween, Canine Costume Contest.

Linda Reel, Ellisville City Councilmember for District 2, and Sue Price were at the Ellisville Farmers Market on Thursday, August 11, publicizing plans for the community dog park and selling tee shirts, dog toys and other items to raise money for the cause.

Linda said that the City Council recently approved the old volleyball courts next to the baseball fields in Bluebird Park as a site for the dog park. It will be free and open to all West County residents.

While the City of Ellisville has approved the site, funding for the necessary improvements will be provided by donations from the community and fundraisers.  Linda and her cadre of volunteers have embraced this project and are working tirelessly to make their shared dream a reality. In addition to selling tee shirts and dog toys at the farmers market, they have two upcoming fun events planned as fundraisers for the park.

The first fund raising event will be hosted by the City of Ellisville as the swimming season at the Edge Aquatic Center in Bluebird Park comes to a close. Thursday, September 8, 5 - 8 pm, will be a "Pooch Plunge" when dogs are allowed to swim at the EDGE Aquatic Center. This event will be repeated on Saturday, September 10 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The second fundraiser is also hosted by the Ellisville Parks Department.  Howl-Oween will be a canine costume contest, Saturday, October 29.  Pre-registration is required for this event. Put your imagination to work, adorn your dachshunds and Irish wolf hounds, come join in the fun and help raise funds to make the dog park a reality.
